Beyond Behavior

Understanding and Supporting Neurodivergent Children

Professional Development Training | Divergent Therapy and Coaching
A 6-Hour Professional Development Training for Early Childhood Educators

The Problem We Solve

Your teachers are doing everything they can.

Every day, the educators in your program encounter children whose behavior they cannot fully explain. The child who melts down every single transition. The one who cannot sit still no matter how many times they are asked. The one who shuts down completely when the room gets too loud. The one who seems fine, until suddenly they are not.

Most early childhood educators have never been formally trained to recognize neurodivergent behavior. They are doing their best with the tools they have. And they need more tools. Beyond Behavior gives them exactly that.

1 in 6 children has a developmental disability that may go undiagnosed in early childhood
Most early childhood educators have received little or no training on neurodivergent behavior
You can change that for every child in your care, starting with one training day
What Is Beyond Behavior?

A full-day training your team will actually use.

Beyond Behavior is a 6-hour, in-person professional development training delivered by the clinical team at Divergent Therapy and Coaching, including a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Registered Dietician, and Certified Autism Specialist. This is not a lecture. It is a hands-on, practical training where your staff will leave with tools they can use starting tomorrow!.

Delivered by clinicians

Not consultants or trainers. Our team holds active clinical licenses and works with neurodivergent children and families every single day.

Built for early childhood

This is not a general mental health training adapted for daycares. Every example, tool, and strategy is specific to your setting.

Practical from day one

No special materials. Nothing extra to buy. Every strategy can be implemented immediately in any classroom.
What Your Team Will Learn

Five modules. Six hours. Strategies they will use for years.

What is Neurodivergence?

Understanding ADHD, autism, and AuDHD from the inside out. How neurodivergent brains process information differently. Why traditional discipline approaches often backfire. The language that helps — and the language that hurts.

Behavior as Communication

The critical difference between meltdowns and shutdowns. The neuroscience of dysregulation in plain language. How to identify a child’s early warning signs and intervene before escalation. Zones of Regulation framework. Case study activity.

Sensory Processing and the Classroom Environment

The 8 sensory systems — including proprioception, vestibular, and interoception. Sensory-friendly modifications your staff can implement at no cost. How to design a calm corner that actually works. Environmental checklist activity.

Practical Strategies and Tools

Co-regulation: why your calm is the most powerful tool in the room. The 3 Cs: Calm, Connect, Correct. First-Then boards, visual schedules, heavy work, and choice boards. Role play practice activity.

Supporting Families

How to talk to parents about developmental concerns with empathy and without alarm. Conversation scripts your staff can use immediately. How to report behaviors to parents and field their questions. And having a resource to share with families.

Included with every training

  • Participant workbook with guided notes and activity pages
  • Quick reference card
  • Behavior monitoring templates (ABC log, daily check-in, sensory profile, family communication log)
  • Family conversation scripts
  • Certificate of completion for PD hours for each participant
